The Wendy Davis campaign must be really hurting. They have already started dredging up things that Greg Abbott did 20 years ago to help smear his name.

I don't even know if what she's claiming in the commercial is true, but already she is resorting to nasty tactics. To me, that's a sign of desperation - she can't talk about what she's going to do for Texas, she has to bring down the other person, smear him, hoping people will believe what is said and vote for her. Unfortunately, with the low-information voters, the dem/libs, this tactic will work.

The goal of the dem/libs is to turn Texas blue. When we went to Concan last year, around the San Antonio area there are lots and lots of signs proclaiming the intent to turn Texas blue. I'm guessing Austin will be the same since Austin is nothing but dem/libs anyway.

Praying the conservatives hang onto Texas as a red state...we do not need a repeat of the Ann Richard years.

Fallon --- 10 years ago -

Amen to that TO.

I can't imagine any thinking person voting for Wendy. But like you say, the no information voter will. Many times over.

Pepper --- 10 years ago -

This is politics at it's worse, Oma ...

I don't think we're in any danger of Texas going Blue.

MonzaRacer (Admin) --- 10 years ago -

I can't see anyone voting for her...but then I didn't think anyone would vote for O a second time...

AngieKaye --- 10 years ago -

did ya'll see that ad she is running bad mouthing Abbott? Using something against him that wasn't even law as we know now?

Something about rape and a co being sued for hiring someone without background check.. HA there wasn't required backgrounds back then... nor now for that matter. Really turned my stomach that she is all for the safety of women when she wanted to approve abortions after 22 weeks! And keep abortion clinics unaccredited

TexasOma (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

Angie, that's what triggered me to start this thread. That woman and the dem/libs who back her will stoop to gutter lows to try to put her in office.

We conservatives need to keep pressing the message because you know they will bus people in, raise the dead, register their dogs & cats just to have enough low information voters to vote for her.

AngieKaye --- 10 years ago -

yep! Get out the vote!!! I believe the election in Nov is goin to be record turn out for the group that has had enough of being the silent slapping post!

Aren't background checks something a company does because they want to, and not mandated by law? Asking because I really don't know...

Pepper --- 10 years ago -

^^^ I think it depends on the industry ^^^

When I retired from aviation, it was required, by law, that the hiring company do a 10 year background check before they could even make an offer to an applicant. And that included a drug test.

Plus, they would also randomly check your credit. Failure to consent to a random check of your credit was grounds for immediate termination, as was a random drug test.

Keep in mind that the aviation industry is highly regulated by the government, probably much more so than other industries.

TexasOma (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

I believe so Monza. But this occurred back in the 80's or 90's....long before it became necessary to do background checks.

When I got my nurses license in 1992, they asked questions about whether I had a criminal record or not, but the State Board of Nursing did not do a background check to see if I was being honest. Then, when I was employed by Methodist then by St. Lukes, neither hospital did a background check.

It wasn't until I worked for St. Lukes for about 2 years that they did a random pee test on anyone.

Then, in 1994 I went into home health and none of the companies I worked for did background checks, not even on the HHAs. They warned that they had the option of a pee test, but none did that in the 90s.

I retired nursing when my hubby retired from the State and didn't start back until 2004. Then they did ten initial pee test before hire, but as far as I know, they did not do a background check. This was as Memorial Hermann hospitals. I'm guessing they background check everyone now a days. But in home health, where they should be checking backgrounds, they still do not.

I had to be fingerprinted last year - all nurses are now required to get printed, we must wait until the BoN gives us the go-ahead to get the prints taken. (same for engineers - they now have to be printed - but illegal aliens don't have to present ID at all).

Found an excellent article on Facebook --- it's by Texas Monthly.

What the New Wendy Davis Ad Tells Us About Her Campaign

FANCY PANTS --- 10 years ago -

I don't even know if what she's claiming in the commercial is true, but already she is resorting to nasty tactics.

You know how it is with the dems. It does not matter if she is telling the truth or not. The libs and some conservatives will not take the time to research and find out for themselves if it is true or not. They lie all the time and they get away with it. What do the dems say? "The means justify the ends."

That and "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

I'm pretty sure Davis will subscribe to those ethics too.

I have not met anyone who said they are voting for her. She is desperate.

I have not met anyone who said they are voting for her.

Neither have I but I don't live in the middle of Houston. I wonder how people outside of the Kingwood area feel about her. I hope they can see she is not the right person for the job and that she is fake.
