Windex has an antibacterial that isn't harsh works good. There is a creme cleaner you can get for cabinets, can get almost anywhere (lowes and Home depot best to find) called Rejuvenate. they have all kinds of cleaners from floors to walls.

Murphy's Oil Soap is the only way to go with wood cabinets. Get a bucket with some really hot water and then put the Murphy's Oil Soap in. Get a sponge and use this to wipe your cabinets down.

After they dry, get some Howard's Restore A Finish. Go over the cabinets to remove any scratches you have. This stuff comes in any color you would need. And it is like a miracle worker. If you have a scratch, this will completely take it out. Wear gloves for this.

When this is done, get some Howard's Feed N Wax. Wipe it on your cabinets, and let it sit for a few hours. Then go back and buff it out. This prevents fading, and is the best wax you can use on wood.

I get these items at Ace. I am sure Lowe's has them as well.

The wife bought some of that "Amish Secret" stuff (cr@p) and, although it looks good for about the first 15 minutes, don't waste your money.

A can of Pledge is a lot cheaper and works better, plus the shine last longer :)

My cabinets are painted...white! Yuck!

However, I use Murphy's Oil Soap on ALL my other wood surfaces. Love the stuff!

Sorry guys...been busy canning this weekend. Thanks for the tips and info...my cabinets aren't really bad, just some greasy film on the ones closest to the gas cooktop that need it.

I'll try the Murphy's soap first and see how that works.

I really do like the Murphy's oil Soap. I use a vinegar and Dawn solution first and then go over with the Murphy's Oil Soap. They just shine.

Howards Restore-A-Finish is wonderful. They also have a wood cleaner that works well.
