I am so tired of these stupid political ads. With the DVR I can either record the show or back it up or pause and fast forward to skip through all the political ads.

Haven't they figured it out yet that claiming that someone is bad and I'm good is not going to get the regular person's vote - only the L.I.V. will listen to their ads and say "Oh my, I don't like _____ because he's baaaad!"

Can't the politician just state what the problem is and how they plan on dealing with it. They could even give a recounting of their previous political successes and failures.

I'll be so glad when this round of crap is over. But then we have the run offs and then the regular election in November.

We ended up getting Aereo. It's imperfect but it's $8 a month and records what I want. The rest I can see on Netflix.

Anything is better than watching political ads.

We have been watching the Hercule Poirot series. Good entertainment. I have several NCIS episodes recorded...we love those, especially the early episodes.

I like that it gets CBS. We quit watching anything on CBS (because they do not offer their shows) when we went for 2 yrs without cable & used Hulu & Netflix.

But CBS is where NCIS is shown.....how can you live without Gibbs? :-)

We have DirecTV, we are TV-holics. But lately there is absolutely nothing on TV, which is why we have been watching recorded or DVDs.

Tonight should end most of the political commercials - unless there are runoffs. I'll just fast forward thru whatever they throw at me.

We were just going to CBS.com but they changed everything. Aereo fixes that.

AFWife --- 9 years ago -

Yes, sadly I gave up NCIS because DH & I were having to watch it separately on the PC & that took some of the fun out of it. ABC was the worst though with not providing shows online on their site.

I foresee that all these networks will eventually start charging for their shows to be seen on the internet. They are getting everyone use to it now and a few years down the line will block everything except for those who pay. Look at what Hulu and YouTube has done. Use to be both were totally free, now both have tiered levels. Yes, you can still see stuff for free, but with Hulu you have to have a membership with a credit card attached to even open an account and if you want to see certain things it costs. With YouTube you can still have a free account, but some of the stuff is pay to see.

I'm guessing 2-3 years, but it for sure will happen.

Now we also use Amazon. But I used it for Doctor Who mainly lol.

TexasOma (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

So, you have Amazon Prime? I haven't sprung for that yet. Keep thinking about it, but haven't.

Our internet connection sucks. We have CenturyLink and they are as slow as molasses at times. We tried Suddenlink but they suck more. Here in Forest Cove our options for internet is limited...can't even get Comcast or ATT.

Anytime I try to watch a simple YouTube I have to let it load first, then play. I did try to download one of the Downton Abby episodes and it took over an hour to download. So watching online is not a good option without downloading the night before.

Did I tell you that CenturyLink and Suddenlink suck????????????? THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!

I've never heard of Aereo before. Is It a subscription or a box like Roku?

AFWife --- 9 years ago -

We have a Roku player that we use for all the streaming. Downton Abbey was another I paid for on Amazon (not included in Prime). We do have Prime but I use it quite a bit for shipping also.

FabFive --- 9 years ago -

We have Amazon Prime but mainly for the delivery of stuff, less for the tv.

Aereo is $8 or $9 a month and it is just like having rabbit ears tv. You get everything local as if you didn't have cable. You can watch live or DVR it. The perk is that you get 20 hours of DVR. You can buy additional DVR space but we don't. The downside is that you have to use it on a device like phone, tablet, laptop, etc. We have been doing that forever anyways and just stream our laptop to the tv and watch it like that. Hope that makes sense.
