Went to the athletic club last night (2 1/2 weeks after total knee replacement).
Went there to see if I could get the knee to work on a stationary bike. That was a no-go. The operated knee needs about 10 degrees more back motion to make the bike work.

So, I hobbled over to the treadmill and walked a mile.
Then, feeling like a kid again, got on an elliptical machine for another mile!

Sore as all get out today, but thrilled that I can start an exercise program again. (:-)

Ode to Youth gone By

The A-Man tried the stationary bike.
It told him clearly to take a hike.
He took that hike a mile on a mill.
He did another with an elliptical feel.

Today he thinks it was all a bad dream.
And the pain in his frame is picking up steam.

Great news Aman!

I have been outside pulling out shrubs and bushes I don't like. The kids have been pulling weeds. It's been so much better than feeling helpless.

I Just Pulled A Lot Of Weeds And Had To Take Down Our Halloween Lights Outside .. The Rain Ruined Them. Oh Well We Still Have The Ones In The Window :)

That is grea aman! I just started back to walking today after achille heel surgery a while back. Finally, it doesn't hurt to walk. Glad to know yours was successful. Wishing you quick recovery, which sounds like you have already.

Way to go Aman!

But don't over do things. You know you have to rest some too in order to heal.

So, when is the next surgery? I need to get hired on at the surgi-center.

January or February.

The left knee is going to be 100% before I even think of the other one!

And, they could use a good hand at the surgi-center. I can't believe I told you that! (:-)

Awww! That would kill me if I couldn't go for my daily run! When I injured my knee I put on a knee brace and kept on running lol. It actually healed pretty fast. Did you used to run marathons, AuthorMan? .. People tell me that my knees are going to go bad from running so much. I run between 35 and 42 miles a week.

When we lived in the Boston area, many years ago, we were running 70 to 80 miles a week. We ran even during the Boston winters. Ran 3 marathons back in the Bill Rogers days. That and football through college (UTEP), tennis, racquetball, golf and chasing DW around the house did my knees in!

Ashley --- 11 years ago -

That Is Awesome Authorman! I Dont Know Many People Who Are As Crazy About Running As I Am :) I Used To Run 65 A Week But Started Looking Sickly Thin So I Cut It Down. I Used To Be A Competitive Swimmer..It Was My Life For A Little Over 12 Yrs . 4 Hrs Of Swimming A Day Plus Weight Training. Much Better On The Knees Too :)
