Wow, Angie ... just how big is this tumor?

TexasOma (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Now my insurance doesn't want to cover the pills because it exceeds the normal daily allowed. UGH. Waiting for kroger to get an answer tomorrow.

Get your doctor involved on this one. He can fax an 'exception' notice to the insurance company and that should do it.

My husband had to do that several years ago --- gotta fight these stupid insurance companies when they pull this crap. The doctors know what they are doing more than the insurance companies - the doctor actually sees the patient, not the patient's chart.

^^^ What Oma Says ^^^

We've had to do the same thing many times. Too often, the insurance companies will run interference with what the doctor has prescribed and you need to get him / her involved.

Kroger is doing just that, they faxed the dr's office to have them contact the insurance co's.

The tumor is almost as large as my stomach is. I just know it was large enough he can't get it back up thru the endoscopy or laporoscopy . I am too scared to look at the pictures :)

Feeling a little better, the nexium is helping me get some bland foods down and good news I haven't thrown up in days now!

Keep your head up and have faith. When I had surgery a couple of years ago, they found a tumor the size of a newborn baby's head encompassing an ovary. They thought it was cancer but it was not. I had no symptoms of anything even being wrong and they were doing another procedure when it was discovered.

Prayers continuing for you and your family along with ((HUGS)).

Angie --- how is your stomach and did you ever see a GI doctor? Updated needed as soon as you get one.

AngieKaye --- 9 years ago -

Second gi dr is waiting on the insurance to approve. He will be the one to do the ultrasound endoscopy. They are still waiting to see what the outcome of that one is. If not approved I am thinking Dr Nathan will just do another endo and see if its gone down.

I have been eating alot more. Actually have gained almost 10 lbs over the last few weeks. Got another 15-20 to go! Wondering if I gain enough if they will just do the surgery and remove.

He has me on stomach meds double dosage. But the liquid I was prescribed my insurance refused to cover and its over $400 a month :( So just have to make do without it. At least I am not doubled over in pain and throwing up anymore.

I still feel that ER dr was an idiot, thought I was anorexic or something. Kept telling me to stop throwing up and taking laxatives (I have diverticulitis) Which I dont do either! I did give that hospital a piece of my mind about their dr's and listening to their patients. Like my husband said, we are just happy Dr Nathan found something instead of making me look like an idiot.

Chest pains are finally going away too. Since I am not dehydrated and malnutrition ed now. My whole body felt like it was shutting down :(

Good that you are gaining weight again.

Fight the insurance company for the approval on the GI doc...don't let them get by with a denial of care. Fight tooth and nail.

Sometimes you have to appeal the first, the second, the third ruling...the insurance company reps are not doctors, their job is to save the insurance company money by denying care.

AngieKaye --- 9 years ago -

I plan on fighting if I have to. Just want this over :)

Dr said this tumor has probably been in there for a very long time now (due to size) I have always wondered why I couldn't eat a large portion of food, only small meals.

I did find out after seeing Dr Nathan a few weeks ago that there is an ulcer from the opening of the stomach all the way thru and the tumor lies on top of that. if anything the meds will heal the ulcer :)
