The 2nd week of January the fam bam and I are moving back via relocation to Ca!! Woo hoo

I need a little pet travel advice please! We're not 100% sure how we're traveling back since we have 3 pets and I'm trying to get comfortable flying with them. Anyone have personal experience traveling by air with pets? Ours are Shelties so they can't fly with us in the passenger area..

TIA

I've never flown with pets, so I haven't a clue what to tell you.

Can't help ya either...except to wish you the best in your relocation...

Well I would appreciate if you asked around also! It's looking like we'll either rent or buy an RV and go that way.

I would think renting an RV would be fun for the kids and safer for the dogs. Somehow it doesn't sound good to put an animal in the belly of an airplane. It's not heated and barely pressurized, if at all.

I'm pretty sure the cost of airline tickets for your family would equal the cost of renting an RV.

Gas is cheaper now, so that's a savings. And think of the history and geography you can expose your kids to. I'm excited for you.

Thank you!

It's actually just me, DH and our pets, the kids are adults and staying here in Tx for now!

Thankfully the airlines that do allow pet travel keep them in a separate area pressurized and climate controlled. Honestly traveling by rented motor home one way is much more expensive than air travel, but after weighing the pros and cons, we think it's best for us.

I've always wanted to travel in an RV, I could see places I've not been yet.

Would it be better to buy a newer used RV or motorhome? Then, when you get the hankering to wander around the west.
