Hubs got home from work today and proceeded to go round 6-7-8 of emails for the evening. He about blew a gasket because Suddendeath is at it again!! I called DirecTV and they are going to hook us up through one of their partnership companies. I'm saving about $50 a month over Suddenlink. I hope I'm not making a mistake, but seriously...how much worse can it be??

We have DirectTV and love it. We've had them for over 5 years now. We first had Suddenlink, then we had Dish...finally got fed up with both and went with Direct.

Only problems with Direct is when it rains we lose the satellite, but other than that it's been great service.

Oh thank goodness. ..they will mail us the equipment and install it on the 24th. I just hope DO can maintain his cool before then. Thanks Oma, I feel better about it now.

We ditched Suddenlink right after Ike and went with Dish, but switched to DirecTV a couple of years ago.

Like Oma said, you'll lose reception as storms move in, but it doesn't last very long and comes right back.

You made a good a choice, Froggie ...

Do you still have them for internet?

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

^^^ No, for Internet, we have Centrylink ^^^

Froggie --- 11 years ago -

Sincerely, this is what we are changing, we've had DirecTV for TV for years. We've had Suddenlink for internet for years too but here lately, they are really going down hill!!

Best thing I ever did, Froggie, was to fire suddenlink (well, one of the best things I ever did).

It was a miserable experience with them.

Never again ...

FabFive --- 11 years ago -

I wouldn't worry too much about the satellite going out in a storm. The power will go out first.

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

^^^ Roger that ^^^

TexasOma (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

Actually not. If it rains heavy we lose the satellite. It was explained that the rain interrupts the satellite signal. But usually it's only a short while...between few seconds to maybe 15 minutes, depending on the storm severity.

FabFive --- 11 years ago -

When we lived in KW if the wind blew the power went out.

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

^^^ It still does and it's really irritating ^^^
