President Obama is going to address the nation from the White House at 12:15 CDT (1:15 EDT) concerning Syria.

I hope we're not going to involve ourselves in another conflict.

MonzaRacer (Admin) --- 11 years ago -

If we do, I wonder if "he" decided on his own, or if Congress give him the go ahead...

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

Well, he's already 20 minutes late ...

I and My are so often used when he speaks. You would think he actually did something.

whatchamacallit --- 11 years ago -

And there you have! Show up late, then blame others for your lack of decision making skills.

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

Well, despite the fact that I disagree with him on most issues, he did bring up some compelling thoughts and I'm happy that he's deferring to Congress to make a final recommendation.

I think it's high time that Congress gets off their hinnie and do the job we sent them to Washington to do.

I'll be sending my recommendation to Representative Poe and I encourage everyone to do the same ... regardless of how you feel about the U.S. intervening in Syria, this is our / your opportunity to voice a concern.

Edited to add; I do not want to get involved in another conflict in the Middle East ...

MonzaRacer (Admin) --- 11 years ago -

So, if Congress says "No", I'm wondering what he'll do, since he said he felt he has authority irregardless...

That concerns me, too.

this is my fear. I also dont think they should get away with killing innocent people with chemical warfare either. The whole world is against this because we all know Russia has a huge claim on those weapons. They dont want the UN or the world to find out they are the ones supplying them with the weapons or technology to build them. Everyone fears Russia. As they should.

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

Another thing to think about. If we do nothing as a world... we turn a blind eye to this and allow it to happen.. whats next? Syria and Russia allowed to keep doing it? Bringing it to the US soil again? Where do we draw the line? (not quoting Obama) When do we say NO YOU CANT DO THIS?

Pepper --- 11 years ago -

Those are good points, Angie ...

I think we should keep our noses out of this for the time being. But Obama had to open his big mouth about "crossing the red line". So now he looks like someone who doesn't do as he said or someone who sends our military to intervene in something we have no business in. The middle east is a hot bed for terrorism and unstable govt, we will never change that.

Bo wanted to go into Syria to overthrow the regime so that Al Qaeda can take over. He is hellbent on helping our enemies.

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

Yep then we will be right back to being called the cowards as we were saying back when O wanted to pull all troops out at once from Iraq and Afgan. If we run and hide we are saying we are no better then they are. If we fight then we start WWWIII with Russia. War is a no win. Doing nothing is worse.

I am just more concerned as to why the UN wants to stay out of this. They were put into place to prevent these situations, yet now why want to also turn a blind eye.

justforfun1 (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

If Bo is going to wait on Congress to decide he knows damn well that they will say no which is what he wants. Bo is all mouth. You know all go and no show.

This I agree with.

^^^^ I couldn't have said it better ^^^^

I'm in favor of capturing Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, give him a fair trial and then execute him ...

Some concern he has eh?

President Obama played golf on Saturday following his major announcement that he had decided the United States should take military action against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons on civilians during that country’s civil war.
The president and Vice President Biden left for the course within minutes of his Rose Garden speech in which he asked Congress to first approve such action.
They played at nearby Fort Belvoir with regular Obama golfing partner Marvin Nicholson, the White House trip director, and with Nicholson’s brother, Walter Nicholson, rounding out the foursome.
Obama is an avid golfer, and his outings have resulted in critics frequently saying throughout his presidency that the president is enjoying himself while too many Americans are out of work or suffering through another crisis.

They should have just had that rodeo clown step in and read the teleprompter, then BO could have got on the course earlier...

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

LOL he would of done a better job. I heard the clown was actually a woman :)

Meme (Mod) --- 11 years ago -

Where is the outrage by the left? I remember when reporters and the left complained that bush played golf when the Iraq war was going on and he never played agai. Just how much golf does obama need to play? He is kicking sand in Americans faces.
