It looks like this is going to be one heck of a snowstorm! I feel so badly for my friends out east. And this is why I do not miss the north - except in the middle of summer when the temps are in the high 90's, low 100's and the humidity is off of the charts!

Yes. And my friends all have horses. Luckily everyone there has stalls.

Yeah my daughter lives in NY and my best friend is outside Philly.

This isn't that bad. They are accustomed to a few of these storms a year and think the news mania about this is funny.

NY didn't get hit as bad, but I have friends in the Boston area and they were expecting between 2 and 3 feet of snow! I used to live up north, so it is not a "picnic" by any means.

2-3 feet of snow isn't really that much. It depends on the water content of the snow and how the melt off will be.

Biggest issues from snow - if it is heavy with water content, then power outages from limbs falling, roofs collapsing if the homeowner doesn't know enough to take it off and heart attacks from out of shape shovelers.

For lighter water content snow, it isn't bad, it just blows around and looks worse than it is.

Think about it. It takes 10-12 inches of snow to make 1 inch of rain.

it's like a heavy rain.

Now as the mountains start to melt, that does have a flooding potential for the low laying areas just as we have here on the rivers.

So people don't have vehicle accidents (and some die in them)? People don't have heart attacks while shoveling all of that snow? Come on, you know better than that.

people have auto accidents and die every day, same with heart attacks.

In that "HUGE" storm, there have been just a handful of deaths.

It is manufactured panic. Those who live up there laugh at it.

This wasn't a bad storm, it is very pretty and great for the ski resorts. People up there are enjoying the crap out of this right now.

Obviously we have different friends.

Perfection --- 12 years ago -

Yup, I have family up there and some in Boston too. They have been there for years and are loving the ski weather.
