There are several other articles as well on this. One of them said the nature of the emails were very explicit. So much so they would not print them.
He knew at the beginning, in the fall that he had put stuff in writing. If he had any decency he would have resigned then, and apologized for any inappropriate behavior.
I think he is getting off on having supporters. In his mind his supporters help him justify his behavior.
I imagine, since the police had to really spend time and effort, getting the deleted emails, they are going to go after the maximum everything they can get on him. They had to spend time and resources because of his lies.
Now had he just sent emails back and forth with this girl and was flirting, I can see him fighting back. He would still be fired, because at his age, and with his years of teaching, there can be no excuse for this. He would have been fired for poor decision making. But he would not have been arrested. He was arrested for one reason only. He had sex with a student.
I pray I don't have jury duty at that time....of course I would never be put on the jury because I'm very opinionated on stuff like this. I've only been impaneled on one jury and it was a gun possession by an illegal. I tried to get off, but I guess others were more opinionated than me. But he was found guilty....oh well!!!
Anyhow, I would not want to sit on a jury for a sex abuse of a minor trial....I don't like hearing details. I like sticking my head in the sand and pretending stuff like this doesn't exist.
Just from reading the different reports, I really think that because of his position and reputation in the community that he thought he could get away with it.
The hero worship by the students, the admiration by others, it can give one a god complex and they start thinking that rules don't apply to them and whatever they feel like doing is fine.
That can happen in a lot of different types of situations, not that it always ends in illicit sex,. If you think someone is this amazing person but all there actions aren't in line with that, maybe you need to adjust your opinion.
And maybe they were the person you thought they were once, but all the ego stroking turned them into something else. No one is too good that they can't fall.
I remember some of the comments from the first round of threads that made some derogatory comments about the girl's looks as proof that the claims weren't true. I think that further paints a picture of a predator. She was vulnerable and uncertain and he played on that.
That email of his really , makes me angry, it just reeks of arrogance. He took on "the role of caregiver." Really? There is no remorse in that. And he thinks a CAREGIVER has sex with those in his care?
It still makes me sick to my stomach for anyone to be attacking the victim.
Especially for a woman to do this.
He is innocent until proven guilty but the victim, was all at fault.
I can't get my mind around this way of thinking. I worked with abused kids for years, and this mindset is one reason we still have so many abused kids.
Maybe dragging it out hoping something changes, witnesses back out, child drops charges, cash settlement from scumbag or school district, never know. The Kroger order today might protect the scouts or maybe the victim works there. Wouldn't need the order unless the scumbag is shopping at Kroger to intimidate the child.
Are Civil lawsuits filed against the district or scumbag?
I believe a civil lawsuit would be filed against the perpetrator, but I guess it could be filed against the district. If against the district the district's lawyers would be fighting a lone individual.
